“Precious in the eyes of the lord is the death of his faithful ones” Psalm 116
Alfred Joseph Hill, Jr. was born in Franklin, Louisiana to Carol and Alfred Hill on July 8, 1985. “AJ” as he was known to many was baptized at an early age at St. Jules Catholic Church. Also, at St. Jules he made his First Communion and he was later Confirmed. AJ loved the game of basketball. He was an awesome basketball player. His family would spend many weekends on the road supporting AJ’s basketball teams. AJ joined a summer team in Morgan Hill, CA to play a tournament called “Hoop it Up”. AJ played so well that other teams were asking him to join their team. He was committed to the team that initially invited him to play. A.J. graduated from West St. Mary High School in 2003. He attended cosmetology school at Camelot University in Baton Rouge, and obtained his license from the State of Louisiana in Cosmetologist and Barbering. He also attended Delgado Community College in New Orleans. AJ established his barber business Fresh Cutts, and came up with the slogan “call me 24/7, I can come to you or you can come to me”. A.J.’s first client was at the age of 13, which was his brother. Since that moment Jarrett had found a barber for life, because no one else could give him a cut like his brother. He was loved and admired by his customers, especially the youth. He worked alongside his dad to learn and grow his business. AJ would spend time at the “back to school” events offering free haircuts for young boys to go back to school. A.J. was an entrepreneur with dreams and aspirations to be the greatest at whatever he was doing at that time. He obtained his Wildlife and Fisheries License to later travel from state to state catering crawfish boils, parties, business events etc. While experiencing this avenue of his life he became interested in the food truck industry. A.J. developed plans for managing Joes’ food Truck, and began operating out of New Orleans, LA selling Joe’s famous hot links, hot tamales, and other food items.
AJ was always devoted to his family. He loved and cherished his nieces and nephew. AJ loved and served the elders in our family. He was willing to help in any way that he could. He was especially devoted and attentive to the care of his grandparents. He would often take flights with his grandparents – he would help them to navigate through the airport. He was always a humbled and respectful gentleman. He would regularly share a laugh or a sweet memory with us.
AJ will be sadly missed by all of us. He was deeply loved and cherished by his family; He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted parents, Carol and Alfred Hill; his brother Jarrett (Brittany) Hill of Carencro, LA; sister Tiffany Madison of Franklin, LA; his nieces, Jaylah Hill and Marquisha Madison and nephew Jarion Hill; Fiancé, D’Asia Prince; his grandmother Lydia Delasbour Foulcard; Godparents, Eugene Foulcard and Debra Bailey; God children, Jaylah and Jarion Hill, Marqusha Madison, Donald Foulcard, Jr. and Chloe Lofton.
