Candis was a bright light—fierce, energetic, fun-loving, supportive, and free-spirited, with a heart for others. She was a devoted mother, loving daughter, cherished sister, adored aunt, dedicated teacher, and loyal friend whose kindness and presence touched everyone who knew her. She accepted Christ early in life, was baptized at Residence Baptist Church, and carried a love for the Lord throughout her life.
A proud graduate of H. L. Bourgeois High School, Class of 1998, Candis was voted Homecoming Queen and was known for her love of cheerleading and track. She continued her academic and athletic journey at McNeese State University, where she also cheered and competed in track while earning her bachelor’s degree in 2003.
Candis was a devoted educator who dedicated nearly two decades to teaching and mentoring students. Beginning her career in 2007, she served as a math teacher in schools throughout Louisiana and Texas. She was passionate about helping students succeed both in the classroom and beyond, touching the lives of many throughout her career. Her excellence in education was recognized when she was named Teacher of the Year at Houma Junior High School.
Outside of the classroom, Candis faithfully supported her children’s activities and proudly served as a coach for their track team. She was devoted to caring for her mother, enjoyed shopping, decorating her home for the holidays, and spending time with her many friends. Above all, she cherished time with her children and poured her heart into creating a home filled with love, encouragement, and opportunity. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
