On February 3, 2026, the community of Schriever, Louisiana, lost a pillar of strength and love with the passing of Isaac “Dut” Scott, Sr. Known for his unwavering work ethic and gentle spirit, Isaac spent his career as a dedicated Diesel Mechanic at Mobil Oil Company, providing for his family with pride and integrity. A familiar sight along Highway 311, Isaac found peace in his daily walks, greeting neighbors and friends with a warm smile. These walks were more than a routine—they were a testament to his appreciation for life’s simple joys and his connection to the community he cherished.
For over fifty years, Isaac was the devoted husband of Mary “Mae Mae” Scott. Their love was fierce and enduring; a partnership built on mutual respect and unwavering support. Though Mary preceded him in death, their bond remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
Together, they raised a large and loving family. Isaac was the proud father of one beloved daughter and many sons, each of whom he taught the value of hard work, honesty, and perseverance. His lessons were not just spoken but lived—he led by example, showing his children that true success is measured by character and kindness.
He delighted in the company of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in family gatherings and the laughter of those he loved. His legacy is one of leadership, love, and the quiet strength that comes from a life well-lived.
He is survived by one beloved daughter, Yvette Scott (Jack), of Houma, LA; five sons, Isaac (Theresa) Scott, Jr., Glenn Scott, and Joseph (Sonia) Ellis all of Schriever, LA, Charles (Dorothy) Ellis of Slidell, LA, Lionel Ellis of Lafayette, LA; and bonus son, Rev. John (Pam) Scott of Houma, LA; 29 grandchildren, 56 great‑grandchildren, and 12 great‑great‑grandchildren. Isaac was also survived by very devoted friends, John Clark, Albert Lagarde, Kevin Lorio, and Brittany Gayon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Scott; parents, John, Sr. and Rosetta B. Scott; sons, David Scott, John Scott, Archie Ellis, and Johnny Ellis; daughters, Beatrice Scott and ShaKay Scott; and great‑granddaughter, Talyraa Sherman. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John Scott Jr., Willie Scott, Zach Scott, Joe Scott, and James Scott, along with his sisters, Priscilla Hawthorne, Beatrice Howard, and Leola White.
Services to honor Isaac “Dut” Scott, Sr., will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at New Magnolia Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Schriever, LA.
He leaves behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The Scott family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers: Dr. Gregory Chiasson, Thibodaux Regional Hospital, Haydel Hospice, Denee Austin, RN, and Nathaniel Ward, CNA
