Dr. Janice Pharr
On March 25, 2025, Loving mother, sister, and child of God passed away in Monroe Louisiana.
Janice Rose was born to Theophilus Sr. and Zenobia Aldridge-Pharr on Jan 15th 1953. From childhood, she displayed a brightness, and astuteness that could not be denied. She graduated from Terrebonne High School in 1971. She then attended and graduated from Southern University of New Orleans. After college she attended Vanderbilt Medical School where she earned her degree in medicine. She completed her residency at hospitals in Pineville, Las Vegas, Lake Charles, and New Orleans. She practiced medicine for 45 years up until her passing, dedicating her life to helping others and being a servant of God.
She was baptized at an early age as a member of St. James Baptist Church in Gibson, LA under the leadership of Pastor Ananias Pharr. She later became a member of the New Light Baptist Church in Monroe, LA under the leadership of Pastor James B. Johnson.
Janice loved her children, her family, her dogs, and most importantly, She loved Father God. She was known for her quick wit. As well as her kind and compassionate spirit. She will truly be missed.
She is survived by her son Daniel Blackmon and her daughters Devon Blackmon and Ashley Bonnett-Williams. Sisters, Patricia Pharr, JoAnn Trahan, Alma Pharr, and brother Theophilus Pharr Jr. (Enola Pharr). Aunt Martha Jo Owens (Frank Owens). Godchildren Ryan Bourgeois, Christopher Jefferson, Chandler Manning, and Angel Pharr. Special friends Dr. Cynthia Brown-Manning, Dr. Gary Menefee, Dr. Claude Minor, Beverly Bowling, and Kristina and Matthew Peters. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theophilus Sr. and Zenobia Pharr. Maternal grandparents Jessie and Ora Baker and James Aldridge. Paternal grandparents Namon and Effie Pharr. Sister, Joyce Hester, and brother, Dwight Pharr. Best friend Pamela Jefferson. Godchild, Dynal Stewart and former husband Donald Blackmon.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at nine o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 31st of March, at The Living Gospel, 140 Corporate Dr., in Houma where the funeral service is to commence at eleven o'clock in the morning. Immediately following, entombment will take place at St. Francis de Sales Number 2, 6124 West Main St., in Houma.
