Melvin Williams, 62, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, LA, passed away peacefully at 10:55 a.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Sanctuary at Passages Hospice in New Orleans, LA.
A public viewing will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Jones Funeral Home chapel, 230 S. Hollywood Road, Houma, LA 70360 (Per CDC regulations/local requirements all visitors must wear face masks in building at all times). Burial will follow in Deweyville Cemetery.
He is survived by his son, Melvin Johnson; grandson, JaJuan Poindexter; brothers, Arnold Thomas, Sr. (Diana) and Gregory Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Sanders Williams; mother, Alfreda Williams; brother, Wayne Michael Williams; grandparents, George and Ruth Thomas; great grandmother, Emma Dickerson; and aunt, Mary Coleman.
