

Murphy "Papa Smurf" Banks, Jr., age 54, a resident of Morgan City, La and a native of Lafourche Parish, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City at 11:53 PM.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the New Mount Esther Baptist Church in Morgan City (Siracusa), LA from 10:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM. Pastor Charles Otis, Sr. will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the St. Mark Cemetery in Labadieville , LA.
Cherished and divine memories will forever be remembered by his wife, Betty A. Neddie-Banks of Morgan City, LA; one brother, Ellis Banks, Jr. (Lacalle) of Thibodaux, LA; three sisters, Linda Joseph (Sidney) of Schriever, Martha Banks-Kirk (Victor) and Clemetine Jones both of Baton Rouge, LA; two sons, Gerald Neddie, Jr. (Jowanda) of Baton Rouge, LA and Shaddrick Neddie of Morgan City, LA; three brothers-in-law, Oliver Trimm (Rose), Leroy Trimm (Charlotte) and Edward Trimm (Tina) all of Morgan City, LA; three sisters-in-laws, Minister Viola Ventress and Judy Trimm both of Morgan City, LA and Letitia Ruffin (Larry) of Lake Charles, LA; three special nieces, Chuntel Ruffin (Travis) of Morgan City, LA and Keri Lisa Joseph (John) and Deanna Triggs (Kelvin) both of Schriever, LA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as several other relatives and friends.
Murphy was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Bessie Mae Exnicious-Banks, Sr. and one brother, Jerome Banks.
