Murray Paul Mitchell, Sr.

Murray was a Veteran of the United States Army, fighting in World War II and the Korean Wars. After his faithful and dedicated service, Murray received a Honorable Discharge.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the  St Matthews Missionary Baptist Church 1109 McMurtry Street Gueydan, LA from 10:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM, the Reverend Ronnie Rhodes will officiate the services. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow funeral services in Gueydan Cemetery of Gueydan, LA.

Memories of Murray will forever remain in the hearts of his wife, Vergie Lee Mitchell of the home; one son, Murray P. Mitchell, Jr. and his wife, Tamara of Covington, LA; four daughters, Michelle Mosley of Houma, LA, Stephanie M. Bernard and her husband John Dolan of Lafayette, LA, Tammy Richardson and her husband, James of Jennings, LA and Remona Turner of Lake Arthur, LA; one brother, Eddie Peter Woods of El Paso, TX; a sister, Velma Sims of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Allen Trahan  and his wife, JoAnn of Houma fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends,

Murray was preceded in death by his parents, Christina Doretha Simon and Paul Mitchell; three sisters, Marjorie Mitchell, Rogers Vital and Dorothy Marie Woods; two son-in-laws, Rev. Dr. Freddie Lee Mosley and Eric Turner.
