

Pinkie Langston Ruffin, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on July 9, 1948, in Enterprise, Alabama. She was the youngest of five children born to the union of John D. Langston and Versie L. Langston. Pinkie received her early education in Enterprise, Alabama, attending Enterprise Academy Elementary School and Coppingville High School. She went on to pursue higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in and Coppingville High School. She went on to pursue higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Reading Education from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She later continued her studies at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, where she earned a Master’s degree plus 30 additional graduate hours. Pinkie shared a loving marriage with her husband, Lionel Ruffin, Sr. Together they raised two beautiful children, Lionel Ruffin, Jr. and Misty Rene. She also played a vital role in assisting with the upbringing of two grandchildren, Ramon D. Hartfield and Amari J. Barksdale, offering them guidance, love, and unwavering support. A devoted educator for 35 years, Pinkie dedicated her life to teaching and uplifting students. Her career spanned from serving as a reading teacher to becoming a Dyslexia Program Supervisor, where she made a lasting impact on countless lives through her passion for education and literacy. Pinkie was also deeply committed to her faith and church family. She sang in the Senior Choir for many years, beautifully showcasing her alto voice. In addition to her musical gifts, she served faithfully as choir president for many years and taught Vacation Bible School, nurturing both faith and fellowship within the church. Visitation will be 4-6pm Monday December 22nd 2025 at Jones Funeral Home 230 South Hollywood Road Houma, LA 70360. Visitation will began 10am until Funeral time 12 noon Tuesday St Luke Baptist Church 3755 Bayou Black Drive Houma, LA 70360 Interment will follow in church cemetery
Pinkie leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Lionel Ruffin, Sr.; one daughter, Misty Rene Robertson (Aaron); one son, Lionel Ruffin, Jr.; three grandchildren, Ramon, Amari, and Milan; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John D. and Versie L. Langston; three brothers, Frank Langston and Earl Langston; and one sister, Pearl L. Jones.
