Adam Torres, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the age of 75. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted, devoted, and strong man who lived his life with humor, generosity, and resilience.
Adam was born on April 30, 1950, in Wharton, Texas, to Sabas and Esther Torres. He grew up alongside his siblings, cherishing his sister Eva Torres, and remembering with love his siblings Dora, Lily, Maria, Virginia, Sabas, Pete, and Domingo who preceded him in death. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School before proudly answering the call to serve his country.
In 1968, Adam was drafted in the United States Navy, where he served with courage and honor during the Vietnam War. Over the course of four years, he completed three tours and was a two-time Shellback, exemplifying his loyalty, bravery, and devotion to his fellow servicemen. His time in the Navy shaped the discipline and selflessness that carried into all aspects of his life.
In 1976, Adam began a new chapter in life when he married Margarita Molina Johnston, the mother of his children. Together they built a family, raising two sons, Adam Marcus Torres and Simon Matthew Torres. He later welcomed daughter-in-law Amanda Torres into the family and delighted in being “Grandpa” to his three cherished grandchildren: Alyssa Torres, Adam Daniel Torres, and Ava Torres. Later in life, Adam found love again, committing to Maritza Monterroza in 2019, with whom he shared companionship.
Adam was a man of many passions. He loved fishing, hunting, and listening to music, and he could often be found telling jokes, lifting spirits, and making others laugh with his playful sense of humor. Work was his passion, and he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to providing for his family and helping those in need. He extended his care beyond his household by volunteering with the VA, where he assisted disabled veterans with compassion and humility.
Those who knew Adam will remember him as loyal, wise, and strong—a man who placed others before himself, who found joy in the simplest of moments, and who always carried a warm smile and a light-hearted story to share. His legacy is one of service, laughter, and unwavering love for family and friends.
On behalf of the Torres family, we thank everyone for their condolences and sympathies during this time. Adam’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
