With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Adela Perez, age 81, a beloved resident of Houston, Texas. She was born on December 15, 1944, in Valle Hermoso, and lived a life filled with love, strength, and devotion to her family.
Adela was the heart of her home—the kind of woman whose love could be felt in every meal she prepared and every moment she shared. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved, always making sure no one ever left her home hungry. Her hands, guided by love, created countless meals, especially her cherished tortillas de harina, which became a symbol of her warmth and care. To her family, her cooking was more than food—it was comfort, tradition, and love.
She had a beautiful spirit that brought people together. Whether through laughter, stories, or simply her presence, Adela made everyone feel at home. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was endless, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cresencio and Angelita Rodriguez; her sister, Maria Rodriguez; her brother-in-law, Jim Coleman; her brothers, Armando Rodriguez and Gilberto Rodriguez; and her sister-in-law, Teresa “Tonga” Rodriguez. Though they are gone, we find peace in knowing she is reunited with them.
Adela leaves behind a family who adored her and will carry her love forever in their hearts: her devoted spouse, Jose G. Perez; her beloved son, Jesus Perez; and her daughter-in-law, Magdalena. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jaccob, Jonathon, and Julian, and a deeply cherished great-grandmother to Leila, Joshua, Madelyn, Micaela, Magali, Camila, and Jonas—each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
She is also survived by her loving siblings Beatriz Rodriguez, Mario Rodriguez (Maria Rodriguez), Carlos Rodriguez (Irene Rodriguez), Teresa Rodríguez Canales (Rafael Canales), and Marta Rodriguez, along with her sister-in-law Alejandrina Rodriguez, all of whom will deeply miss her presence.
Adela’s life was a beautiful example of unconditional love, selflessness, and quiet strength. She gave endlessly, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy that will live on in every shared meal, every family gathering, and every memory held close.
Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the love she gave us. She will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and always loved.
