Courageous and sweet, brilliant and beautiful, she waged a valiant battle against cancer for the past two and a half years. She is with the angels now, where she belongs.
Adelaide was born on the 26th of January 1993, in Houston, to Susan (née Tuttle) and David Rice Lummis. She attended The Presbyterian School and graduated from The Kinkaid School in 2011. She enjoyed summer camp, attending Camp Mystic in Texas and later Camp Cheley in Colorado. For most of her life, she enjoyed summers and winters in Santa Fe, New Mexico; hiking, skiing, and practicing yoga with family and friends.
A talented and accomplished actor, Adelaide earned her BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (“UNCSA”) in 2015 and was signed and moved to Los Angeles upon graduation. She worked on numerous productions and projects in both California and New York, and was filming in upstate New York last January before her illness finally took over.
All of the above merely hints at the passionate spirit with which Adelaide engaged life and all people. Our world is darker with the loss of this bright light.
Adelaide is survived by her parents; her brother Rice Lummis, his wife Paula, and their daughter Jacinta of Fayetteville, Texas; her sister Helen Lummis of Soda Springs, California; and her grandmother Marilyn Graves Lummis of Houston. Also surviving her are numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles, with whom she shared (and often instigated) many happy times.
A graveside memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 21st of November, at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Avenue in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at the event center.
The family of Adelaide wish to thank all of the physicians, scientists, nurses, and caregivers who worked so hard to save and comfort her. Also appreciated is the loving support from friends all across the country and her sweet neighbors on Angelus Avenue in Silver Lake. Also to be mentioned are Goldie and Earnest, the family doodles who provided Adelaide such affection over these past many months.
