Alan was born in Cuero, Texas to Larry and Bettye Hausmann on December 10, 1965. He went to school at Springlake Earth and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University. He worked as a Functional Safety Engineer for HIMA for a majority of his life. Alan was involved in many social clubs, including Dungeons and Dragons, where he met many lifelong friends. Alan was an avid reader, a passionate collector, and a World War II history buff. He was a hard worker, loved spending time with kids, and had a good sense of humor.
Every summer, Alan's family got together at Lake Whitney, where he taught his niece the perfect amount of time to heat a Krispy Kreme donut in the microwave (8 seconds), knowledge she still uses to this day. Alan spent hours throwing the little kids around in the lake and the pool and running games in the family cabin. For these games, Alan was always the score keeper, and was often accused of fudging the numbers in his favor; a running joke in the family. Alan has many lifelong friends, whom he would go above and beyond for, because of his honesty, integrity, and loyalty. He traveled for both work and pleasure and family remembers him discussing his time in Egypt, the Middle East, and Germany.
Alan is preceded in death by his Grandparents, parents Larry and Bettye Hausmann, brothers Glen and Kevin Hausmann, Uncle Steve Homer, Aunts Norma Wright, Vanita Homer, and Wilma Nowell, and cousins Beau Buth, Donna Andrews, Jonah Andrews, Carl Schaer, Keefe Norton, and Tony Ayala.
Alan is survived by sister, Merri Meriwether (Wade Meriwether), niece, Maci Meriwether, Uncle Arlyn and Aunt Millie Hausmann, cousins Vicki Buth Cox (Jimmy Cox), Elizabeth Schaer, Sarah Poole (Greg Poole), and Scott Andrews. Other beloved family members include Travis Buth, Katrina Buth, Amanda Buth, Beau Butler, Valerie Norton, Evelynn McDaniel, Charlotte Poole, Aaron Schaer, Destiny Andrews, and Austin Andrews.
The family of Alan Hausmann wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who loved Alan for who he was. Please enjoy a large Big Red and chocolate ice cream float in his honor.
