Albert T. Green

Albert T. Green went to be with his Lord on June 8, 2012 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Carole Van Houten Green; his brother, Congressman Gene Green and wife Helen Green; niece, Dr. Angela Hewlett and family; nephew, Christopher Green and family and mother-in-law, Joyce Van Houten. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Garland B. Green and Evelyn Green.

Albert was a retired Houston ISD teacher and coach. Albert coached baseball, football, basketball and track while at Woodson M.S., Jeff Davis H.S. and Deady M.S. Although he loved all sports, his passion was baseball and especially the Houston Astros. He began work at the Astrodome in 1962, as a member of the original earthmen grounds crew.

Albert was an active member of Oaks Christian Church. He served on the Church Board as a Chairman and Vice Chairman, as well as being a Deacon. During 2008-2009, he was President of The Houston Association of Retired Teachers. Albert was an active member and enjoyed being Chairman of the Legislative Committee and member of the Stilwell Retirement Committee.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12th from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Pat H. Foley. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Oaks Christian Church, 1216 Bethlehem, Houston, 77018. Officiating will be Pastor Don Joseph and Minister Steve Sandifer.
