Alberto L. Adame was born on March 24th, 1935 in San Benito, Texas. Born to his mother Maria Lopez Adame and his father, Alberto A. Adame, (both Braceros) who taught their children to harvest fruits and vegetables and pick cotton that fed and clothed this nation. After a brief illness and the opportunity to say goodbye to his wife, children and some grandchildren, on November 25th, 2025 in Houston, Texas he passed away peacefully. And we are confident that his welcome to heaven was quite a celebration!
He is preceded in death by his father and mother and his brothers Oliveros, Jose Andres, and Roy, and his sisters Josefina Gonzales, Dolores Carillo, and Tomasa Skinner, his Grandson Kevin Vahedi and Grandson Moses Adrian Gutierrez, and so many others.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maria Luisa Adame and her daughters Lynna (and Johnny) Mabasa and their 2 children and 1 grandchild, Dina (and Paul Phillip) Mabasa and their 2 children, Selina Valdez, and Debrina (and Thomas) Fleure, and his children Christina (and Oscar) Leal and 3 children and 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Robert (and Jacqueline) Adame and 5 children and 9 grandchildren, Alice Adame Perales and her son and 7 grandchildren, Angie (and Willy) Gallegos and 3 children and 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and Tonie (and Anthony) Valle and 5 children and 8 grandchildren, his brothers Juan Amado Adame and wife Emily, Sisto Adame and wife Veronica, and his sister Rebecca (and Jettie) Willis, as well as dozens of nephews and nieces from all over the country, including Houston, Boston, Laredo, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin.
Alberto quietly volunteered to feed the homeless who received a cup of his homemade soup and cold drinks most Fridays. His exercise was walking to greet the staff at Heritage Place Apartments almost every morning, Monday through Friday. He looked forward to hearing from his children who could call at any time, day or night, and receive a warm reception and some sage advice if solicited and the “I love you” at the end of his conversation. He and his wife volunteered with countless churches including Mission Greenspoint. He loved dancing with his Honey, traveling out of town with his Honey (without letting anyone know where they were), and gambling trips with family. He loved racing his shopping cart and getting lost in the aisles at Kroger and Walmart. He loved to go fishing, especially with his daughter Shelly (Selina), and hunting, especially with his son, Robert.
Alberto was known as Beto, Pito, Tio, Albert, Gramps, Grandpa, Dad and Honey. Alberto’s example teaches us not to run a race but to race to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God. To his family and those closest to him, he is now the Giant upon whose shoulders we stand.
