

Alberto was born on July 8, 1960, on the South Side of Chicago, where he was raised alongside his four brothers and one sister. Growing up, he developed a deep love for basketball, both playing the game and later enjoying it as a devoted spectator.
A hardworking and talented man, Alberto built a life rooted in craftsmanship and passion. He worked as a chef after graduating from the Houston Culinary Institute, sharing his love for cooking with those around him. He also dedicated decades of his life as a master stone mason, leaving behind a legacy of skill, precision, and pride in his work.
Alberto will be remembered for his warm personality, his love of fishing and cooking, and his unique sense of humor—often cracking jokes that brought laughter without ever being at anyone’s expense. He had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for, always leading with love.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Bridget Ann Martinez; cherished grandchildren, Emma and Alvin Espinoza; and his siblings, Luis of Chicago, Illinois, Alvaro of Munster, Indiana, Alejandro of Houston, Texas, and Maria Guadalupe Castillo of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jesús Vega, and his parents, Alvaro Manuel Vega and Herminia Vela Vega.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel.
Alberto Vega’s life was one of dedication, love, and laughter. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
