1954 – 2021
Al Garcia, age 66, of Houston, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Al was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 12, 1954, to Juan and Josefa Garcia. After graduating from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps – (Oorah, Semper Fi!) – where he served honorably until his discharge. He then worked for various companies until he found his dream job working for FedEx. He was a bright, determined, and hard-working individual, and he became fast friends with all on his route. He worked there for 21 years until his retirement in 2019.
Al is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gloria Garcia, children A.J Garcia, Grace Garcia, Olivia Phelan and husband Kyle. His heart could not hold all the love he had for his grandchildren, Roberto Allen Garcia, Haven Alexis Phelan, and Amy Chase Phelan. Al is also survived by his brother, Fred Garcia, and his sisters, Angelica G. Kessler, Ada G. Cullum, Alicia Garcia and Anita G. Bodine and many nieces and nephews.
Al is fondly remembered as more than a loving husband and father. He was a beloved friend, a coach. He was caring and kind-hearted. He had a giving spirit and an infectious laugh. His face would light up with a huge smile the second he saw you. He loved laughter, and he loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by many, and he loved every one of them. These people were his LIFE. He just brought so much love and beautiful energy to his family and friends. We all wanted him with us. GOD wanted him home with HIM. He will be greatly missed!
Family and friends are invited to a visitation/viewing on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 2-6 pm at the Brookside Funeral Home, 9149 Hwy 6 N., Houston TX 77095. His funeral and interment will take place in Corpus Christi, TX.
