

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Alfred Earl and Alice White. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sue Stiles White; children, Stiles White and wife Juliet, John White and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Stiles Fraser, Charlotte and Rivers.
Buz grew up in Tyler, Texas where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He was Student Council President and a member of the varsity basketball team. During his senior year, Buz was named “Mr. Lee High School.” He spent many childhood summers at Camp Stewart in the Texas Hill Country where he was named Honor Camper.
As a student at the University of Texas, Buz was president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, a member of the Texas Cowboys and a Goodfellow. Additionally, he was a member of the freshman honorary scholastic fraternity Phi Eta Sigma, as well as the honorary business fraternity Beta Gamma Sigma. He earned his law degree from the University of Texas Law School where he was distinguished as a member of Chancellors, the law school’s most prestigious honor society. He was also a member of the Order of the Coif and served as an editor of the Texas Law Review.
Buz began his career as an associate at Baker Botts before joining the legal department at Transco, later Williams, where he worked until his retirement.
A lifelong fan of Texas Longhorns football, he and his family regularly attended all home games for more than 30 years. Another favorite event in his life was the Boys State High School Basketball Tournament, which he attended annually in Austin for the last 22 years.
He was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church Houston where he served as an Elder and a member of the Ushers Guild. He and Sue spent more than 10 years as mentors to the Trinity Sunday School class, a ministry which brought them much joy. Together Sue and Buz chaired the Renewal Conference, the all-church Mo Ranch Retreat, and volunteered in the special needs Sunday School class. Additionally, Buz volunteered with Operation I.D., part of the Main Street Ministries.
Buz was a good man, a man of character and integrity. He was a Christian, a great husband, dad, grandfather and friend.
His memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 1st of September, in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street in Houston, where Dr. Bill Heston, Executive Pastor, and Rev. Jon Crantz, Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation, are to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Buz’s name may be directed to the Main Street Ministries at First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main St., Houston, TX, 77004.
