Monroe served his country in the USN and was honorably discharged after 4 years.
He worked with the Port of Houston Authority from 1962 to 1986. He was a member of the Propeller Club where he served as Treasurer and was honored as Man of the Year.
A faithful follower of God he was a member of ChristChurch ,formerly Bellaire Presbyterian Church, for over 50 years where he was an Elder. He was extremely involved in his church from cooking meals to serving on boards. He continued his service to God when his health no longer allowed him to travel by being active in the church at his retirement community.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Ethel Danette Walling Bean, Houston Texas and his brother Leeland Bean, Boise Idaho. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives including his 3 special grand-daughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Curt and Fannie Bean, his sisters, Doris Croxdale, Viola Bean and Nona Oshier as well as his brothers, Clifford Bean, Hampton Bean, and Glen Bean.
Graveside services are Monday February 28th 1pm at Forest Park Westheimer 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston Texas 77077
Memorial service is at 3pm at the chapel at Clarewood House Retirement Community 7400 Clarewood Drive

The family extends their gratitude to the loving hands of Hospice and the ECC at Clarewood house for their devoted service and care of Monroe during his illness.
