

Alphina Jo Bailey, 89 passed away Friday morning, May 24th. She was born in Hugo, Oklahoma. As a young woman, she received her teaching degree and taught school until her marriage to J.W. Bailey and relocated to Houston. She embraced Houston and loved raising her family here. She was a long time member of Garden Oaks Baptist Church. Mr. Bailey preceded her in death in 1978. She then started working for Big Three Industries in 1979 until her retirement in 1989. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend always putting everyone before her own needs. Because of her Christian faith and deep belief in Christ, she always had a smile and kind word for everyone. Her faith and belief made her a joy to always be around. She will be so missed by all her family and numerous friends. Alphina is reunited with her husband; daughter, Carolyn Bailey and great-grandson, Trevor M. Bailey. She is survived by sons, Ronald M. Bailey and Kerry J. Bailey; daughters, Melody A. Hyman and Mary L. Kavanaugh; grandchildren, Connie L. Corley, Ronald M. Bailey, Jr., Joe T. Hyman, III, Michelle L. Salinas, Michael B. Kavanaugh; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Hunter Corley, Joey, Ivy, Preston and Trent Bailey, Jackelyn, Jordan and Hayden Hyman and Devon, Austin and Kristal Salinas, all of Houston.
Visitation with Alphina will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held in the chapel of Pat H. Foley & Company. Committal Services will follow at City Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.
