

Andre Jamal Edmond of Houston, TX passed away unexpectedly during his sleep on July 19, 2017. Andre was born in Kansas City, Kansas on January 31, 1990 and spent his early years in Indianapolis, Indiana.
His family later relocated to Woodbridge, VA and Douglasville, GA during his middle and high school years. In high school, Andre was in the Biotechnology program and was a member of the track and field team at both Osborne Park High School and Douglasville High School. In the summer of 2006, he participated in Lead America’s Congressional Student Leadership University Conference in Washington, DC. After high school, he attended the University of Houston and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology. While attending the University of Houston, he was a member of PsiChi and enjoyed working with the research team in his field of study. Andre worked as a recruiter and had plans to return to school to obtain a Master of Psychology degree.
Andre touched the lives of many people with his smile, sense of humor, and contagious laugh. He enjoyed watching documentaries, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his parents Jocelyn and Roderick Ellison of Porter, TX; loving sisters Jasmine and Jada of Porter, TX and Chauntel, Brittany, and brother Antonio of Indianapolis, IN; his maternal grandparents John and Verna Edmond of Porter, TX.; his Aunt Patricia Porter of Norfolk, VA, who according to Andre, was more like a sister; his girlfriend Shambrika Smith, along with countless family and friends who were blessed to have had him in their lives.
