Ann Jean Park

Ann was born in Houston, Texas. Her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee during WWII, but returned to the Heights area of Houston where she spent her formative years. A devote Catholic, she attended Christ the King Catholic Church and School as a youth and the original St. Agnes High School near downtown Houston. She attended Rice Institute studying history and German. While there, she met the love of her life, Jack Park, who she would marry a few years after graduation. Ann was an immensely talented lady. As a musician, she had her piano play recorded on several albums that the family still have today. She could grow virtually any plant but seemed to specialize in Azaleas and Day Lillys. She was a master with a needle and thread, spurring her to eventually own a craft business with her oldest daughter Liz. In her later years, Ann enjoyed the company of her grand and great grandchildren any time she could visit with them.

Mom, you are the most beautiful memory we all can retain, one kept locked in our heart forever. A memory of your goodness, caring and wisdom that live on like a legacy. We will remember how lucky we were to have known your love, reminisced with wonderment not grief.

Ann is preceded in death by her Mother Anna Elenora (Lea) Sheppard and Father Francis Eugene Sheppard Sr.; Brother Francis Eugene Sheppard Jr.; her husband Jack Herman Park; and daughter’s Elizabeth Ann Sumrow and Susan Elaine Hudson and husband Casey.

Ann is survived by son John Frances Park and wife Caron; son-in-law Jimmy Jack Sumrow, Sr.; grandchildren Jack Sumrow, Jr., Clarke Brizendine and wife Amber, Brian Brizendine and wife Taylor, Taylor Park, and Katie Phelps and husband James; and great-grandchildren, Jimmy Jack Sumrow III, Bryce and Kylie Loven, Berkley and Bowen Brizendine, and Blanton Taylor Phelps (est arrival Aug 2024).

Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Sumrow Sr., Clark Brizendine, Brian Brizendine, Taylor Park, James Phelps with honorary Pallbearers being Bryce Loven and Bowen Brizendine.
