

Anna Dorhauer Johnson, 87 years old passed away May 21, 2017 surrounded by her children and their spouses. Anna was born March 11, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Louis William Dorhauer and Anna Flucke Dorhauer. Anna was their only child. Anna graduated in 1950 from the University of Southwest Louisiana at Lafayette. Anna taught first grade for many years. She was an active member of Tri Delta sorority in college, a Rainbow girl in High School and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star of Metairie Chapter OES. Anna met her husband, Hugh Hicks Johnson in New Orleans when he was visiting his family. He at the time was a University of Houston student. He had been in the navy during World War II serving in the Pacific for 3 years. They were married June 24, 1951 in New Orleans at the Gentilly Presbyterian Church. They lived in Houston 55 years until Hugh’s illness which led them to moving to a retirement home in Fort Worth, Texas to be near family. They lived in the home one month when Hugh passed away. Anna and Hugh have 3 children, their pride and joy. Louis and his wife, Nancy of Liberty Hill, TX, Dr. Fredric and his wife, Rhonda of Fort Worth, TX and Ann Sinclair and her husband, Mike of Longview, TX. Anna (MawMaw) has seven grandchildren Jason, Justin, Stephanie, Ryan, Kim, Jenny and Mary Katherine. Anna’s great grandchildren are Charlotte, Samantha, Saydee, Eliska, Libby, Sawyer, Scarlett, and Everett.
Anna has been a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother which all of us hold dear memories
Anna had many hobbies including not only cooking wonderful meals, but baking her famous pound cake that all loved. Other hobbies were toile painting, crewel stitching and her very favorite was flower arranging and competing in floral arranging in her garden club. Anna was a faithful servant to our Lord and loved her prayer group.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions in Anna’s name be made to the Shriners Children’s Crippled Hospital in Houston or the Shriner’s Burn Hospital in Galveston.
The family wishes to thank all the many caregivers to Anna at Garden Terrace in Fort Worth and Hospice House at Huguley.
