It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Mrs. Annamma Thomas, age 88. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She peacefully departed this world at her home in Missouri City, Texas, on April 15, 2025.
Annamma was born in Kozhencherry, Kerala, on May 28, 1936, to Mr. P.C. Mathew and Mrs. Saramma Mathew. She graduated from St. Mary’s Girls School in Kozhencherry, then went to nursing school in
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. She began working as a nurse at the Al l-India Medical Institute in Delhi. She married Mr. Thomas Mathai and had two children. She moved to New York, in 1973 and worked as a nurse at the city hospital. In 1980, the family moved to Houston where she worked as a nurse for The Methodist Hospital at the Medical Center for 14 years. She then worked for HCA Spring Branch Medical Center in Houston. She has been retired for the last 25 years.
Annamma’s journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion and an unwavering faith in God. She enjoyed tending to her garden and sewing. She created a warm and nurturing home for her family and
friends. She had the gift of making others smile and left a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. She will be remembered for her honesty and generosity. In honor of her life, we should take the time to let God’s light shine through us as it did through her. While her earthly journey may have come to an end, her heavenly voyage has just begun. She now celebrates her new life and worships at the feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Annamma will forever be in our hearts and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Annamma Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Thomas Mathai. She is survived by her two children: Sosamma and Mathew; son-in-law: Koshy; and two beloved grandchildren: Andrew and Sofia. She also leaves behind her siblings: Mary, Aleyamma, Chacko, and Sosamma, along with many nieces, nephews, and their children, and dear friends.

A visitation for Annamma will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Immanuel Mar Thoma Church, 12803 Sugar Ridge Blvd, Stafford, TX 77477. A visitation will occur Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, 12803 Sugar Ridge Blvd, Stafford, TX 77477. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 12803 Sugar Ridge Blvd, Stafford, TX 77477. A committal service will occur Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
