

A lovely and caring soul is now watching over the loved ones she left behind. Anne Bishop Lipscomb, passed away in her Houston, Texas home at Eagle’s Trace Senior Living Community on May 18, 2023, following her battle with cancer. Her family is grateful for the loving support and comfort Anne received for many years from endearing caregivers, especially Meibel Cook who was with her for several years. and most recently from Vantage Hospice in Houston, Texas.
Anne was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 31, 1939. She is preceded in death by her father, William Peter Lipscomb, Sr. and her mother, Inez Bishop Lipscomb of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her brother, William (Bill) Peter Lipscomb, Jr. and his wife Linda of Georgetown, Texas, her niece, Karen Anne Lipscomb of Houston, Texas, her nephew William (Pete) Peter Lipscomb, III and his wife Melissa (Missy) of Cedar Park, Texas, and their children Jenna Lipscomb and William (Will) Lipscomb, and cousins Terry Romero, Jimmy Puckett, Jan Faiszt, Kay Navarre and their families. Anne had many dear friends including Paula Ely, Marilyn Fankhauser, Ginger Montgomery, Charlotte Matula, Marie Rupp, and Bill & Maedene Armer who all share fond memories.
Anne graduated in 1962 from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Psychology and served as president of the Delta Gamma sorority. She also received a Certificate in Special Education & Teaching from Lamar University in 1978. Anne was a beloved schoolteacher at Hunters Creek in Houston, Texas from 1962 through 1996. Her heart was focused on teaching Special Education students, but she also used her talents in computer technology to help other teachers learn how to enhance education through the use of computers in the classroom. After retiring from teaching, Anne spent several days a week working in the gift shop at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas.
A lover of travel, Anne visited many states and countries via road trips, tour buses, and cruise ships. She daringly took several long road trips on her own, only telling family after returning home. Anne claimed her favorite trips were cruises with family members along the west coast of the United States, Alaska, and through the Panama Canal. She also loved reading, dining with long-time friends, spending Christmas time with family, and for many years, having the companionship of her furry cats. Our hearts are filled with love … Anne will be missed by so many.
A private funeral will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life Monday, August 14, 2023, starting at 12:00 p.m. in the Event Room at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
