

Annie Bea Bates was born July 11, 1926 in Frierson, LA to the late Luellen Thomas and Mary Pearl Jackson. She accepted Christ and was baptized at the early age of twelve under the leadership of Rev. Johnny Williams at New Light Baptist Church in Frierson, LA. Later in life she worked at Baker’s Café and Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, LA. Moving to Houston, TX, she worked at DePelchin Faith Home.
While living in Houston and raising her family, she united with St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Donald G. Burgs.. When he was called to pastor Garden of Gethsemane, she moved her membership there. She remained there under the leadership of Rev. Richard E. Daniels where she served faithfully in the choir and deaconess ministry. She was known for making the communion bread for many years until she moved back home to Mansfield, LA. Once back home, she reunited with Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Cleveland Douglas and then under Rev. John H. Nash. She later moved back to Houston and reunited with Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Richard E. Daniels until his retirement followed by Rev. Robert E. Daniels. She eventually moved her membership to Fallbrook Church under the leadership of Rev. Micheal A. Pender until her passing.
She now joins her husband, Henry C. Bates, parents; Gabe and Mary P. Jackson; and her daughter, Linda K. O’Neal in their eternal home. She leaves to cherish her memories seven children: Roosevelt Trammel of Shreveport, LA, Margie F. Andrews (Harold) of Houston, TX, Ruby L. Tinker of Houston, TX, Henry L. Bates of Jacksonville, FL, Charlene Strong (Micheal) of Houston TX, Annie D. Bates of Houston, TX and Larry Bates (Elnora) of Houston, TX. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren: Roosevelt Jr., Roger, Catherine, Ray, Robin, Harold, Cedric, Cheryl D., Joyce, Cheryl R., Alicia, Jason, Tyrone, Tiffany, Darion, Denotra, Henry, Serina, Cherece, Christopher, Jaalisa, Jennifer, Jason, Brandon and L’Damien; thirty great grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren. She is/was loved by so many and is truly going to be missed.
