Arminda Arredondo Aguilar, 85, entered eternal rest on April 29, 2026. Born on August 17, 1940, in Matamoros, Mexico and the beloved daughter of the late Ruperto and Petra Arredondo. She later made her home in Missouri City, Texas, carrying with her a steady devotion to family and a quiet strength that shaped the life she built and the love she gave.
In the early 1960s, Arminda migrated to Texas, beginning a new chapter with courage and determination. During a military parade in San Benito, Texas, she met her future husband, Raul Aguilar Sr. They married in 1969 and together created a home grounded in loyalty and hard work. They welcomed their son, Raul “Ruli” Aguilar, Jr., in Harlingen, Texas, and later, after the family moved to the Houston area, their daughter, Angelica Maria, was born.
Arminda lived with a gentle spirit and a fiercely independent heart. She found simple joys in the things that brought others happiness—especially making costume jewelry for family and friends, a thoughtful craft that reflected her care and steady hands. Music was another cherished companion in her life; she especially loved mariachis, Vicente Fernandez, and Elvis Presley. She also treasured time spent with her children, her large family, and her cherished grand fur babies, La Fifi and Coco.
Arminda was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Serra Aguilar, Sr.; her parents, Ruperto and Petra Arredondo; and her sisters, Theodora Torres and Victoria Arredondo. She is survived by her son, Raul “Ruli” Aguilar Jr.; her daughter, Angelica Maria; and her son-in-law, Aaron Vasquez; by her sisters, Enriqueta Cruz, Antonia (Hilario Romero), and Juana (Jesus Belmares); and by her brothers, Cesario (Cesaria Arredondo Alvarez), Antonio (Carmen Arredondo), and Armando (Veronica Arredondo). Arminda was also an aunt to dozens of loving nephews and nieces on both sides of the family, and a devoted “grandma” to her children’s pets, Fifi and Coco.
