Arthur Kays Smith went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 17, 2018. He was born December 23, 1931 in Vernon, Texas to parents Arthur Poe Smith and Norma Lee Smith. He is survived by Frances, his loving wife of 67 years, daughter, Connie McGahan and husband Jackie, Kaleta Burruto and husband Donny, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Kays served in the National Guard for many years and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict in 1955 and received an honorable discharge in 1958. He was an Instrument Design Engineer and was retired with ABB Lumus Crest. He served for many years as Director of Ushers at Braeburn Valley Baptist Church, volunteered in many capacities and served wherever needed. Kays was known for his patient ways, kind heart and his quiet, gentle spirit. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Ronald Smith. There will be a private family graveside service with arrangements under the direction of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A Memorial Service is to be determined at a later date.
