

Jimmy was born in Houston, Texas on June 24, 1941 to parents Percy and Maurine Clayton. He met Karen in Houston and they were married on April 28, 1962. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, Jimmy went on to an apprenticeship as a sheet metal draftsman and received his certification. He had a career in sheet metal draftsmanship with various companies for sixty years, and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 54 for his entire career. He had a passion for reading, leatherwork, his lawn, and coin collecting, and enjoyed listening to talk radio and watching singing cowboy movies, as well as watching Astros and Rockets games. Jimmy was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Clayton; sons, Craig Clayton and Darren Clayton; mother, Maurine Clayton; father, Percy Clayton; sister, Shirley Cougot; and great-granddaughter, Emmalynn De Angelo.
He is survived by his sons, Troy Clayton and wife Paula, and Mark Clayton; daughter, Kris Lacour; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Jimmy will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur at 2:00 PM, with a committal service to follow at 3:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Clayton, Justin Clayton, Dylan Clayton, Trent Lacour, Connor De Angelo, and Terry Henson.
