Barbara Lue Grissom

Barbara graduated from Aldine High School. She met Dion Grissom in Pampa, Texas and married in 1955. Barbara was a food department manager at Woolworth for over 37 years. Her career at Woolworth brought her to Houston and lasted an astonishing 37 and a half years. After retiring, she became a member of the Aldine Area Quilt Guild. Barbara used those skills to make every child and grandchild quilts that have a story. Barbara also enjoyed reading and watching “Price is Right”.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Delia Dupree; sisters, Maedale Connor, Wilma Parks, Clara “Deanie” Dennis, and Darlene Cotton; brother, Dwight Dennis; son-in-law, Bill Bechtold; brothers-in-law, Buster “Otis” Parks, and Bobby Cotton.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Barbara “Renee” Bechtold; grandchildren, Brandi Bechtold, Heather Bechtold, “G.W.” Gallos William Bechtold III, Ashely Ann Butler, and Robin Costley; great grandchildren, Stephanie Salas, Krystal Salas, Vincent Bechtold, Emma Rae Standford, Brooke Ann Mikolaszuk, Chase Bechtold, and Jaden Bechtold; sister, Pat McCain (Danny McCain); brother, Aldo Dennis; son-in-law, Ronnie Salas.

Serving as pallbearers are Ronnie Salas, Mark Salas, John Connor, Curtis Parks and Damon Butler.

Any and all donations will go towards her head stone “Plaque”.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM. A committal service will occur Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Brookside Memorial Park.
