Barbara Howes

Barbara Dunn Howes passed away peacefully in her home on August 23, 2011. Barbara was born on August 4, 1932 to Mr. And Mrs. Herman and Virginia Dunn in Wichita Falls, Texas. Barbara attended the University of Kansas, and was very active in her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi.

Survivors include her children John and wife Laura Short of Kansas City MO. Ginny Smith of Houston TX, and Flip and wife Janet Short of Lake Lotawana MO. She is also survived by six grandchildren Alex, Ben, Emily, Jessica, Ryan, and Susan. She was preceded by her husband Wallace Howes.

Barbara was a faithful member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. Barbara was loved by everybody, and everyone who knew her loved her as well. Some of her favorite hobbies and activities included her quilting group, Ashford Forest neighborhood groups, feeding the peacocks, and for 20 years she enjoyed her "Thursday Nighters" group. Her circle of friends are far too many to mention. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren, and very close to each and every one. She will be missed by all of us forever.

In lieu of customary remembrances, those desiring may make contributions in Barbara's name to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, Tx 77079. Memorial Services will be Friday, August 26th at 3:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetary, 13001 Katy Freeway. Reception to follow.
