Nécrologie de Barbara A. Justman
Barbara Ann Rhodes Justman, loving wife, mother and “MeMaw” was called home on August 25, 2022, in Houston, Texas at the age of 92. Barbara was born on July 27, 1930 in Humble, Texas to Dan and Evelyn Rhodes. Barbara’s father worked for the Humble Oil Company, and the family moved often between the oil towns along the Gulf Coast. Barbara changed schools frequently and learned how to make friends quickly and easily, a skill which she joyfully practiced throughout her life. She never met a stranger! Barbara met her future husband, Dan Justman, while attending high school in Katy, Texas. She attended Baylor University, graduating with a degree in Home Economics. She and Dan married shortly after her graduation in 1951. They made their home in Houston, Texas and raised three children. Barbara’s greatest loves were her family and her church family. She was a long-time member of Tallowood Baptist Church and served as Director of Food Services for many years. Barbara spread God’s love through her gift of hospitality, as shown by the countless banquets, wedding receptions, luncheons, and other events she organized. Her church family knew they could count on “Barbara J” to serve delicious food, impeccably presented, with lots of love. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Breedlove Justman, her parents Dan C. Rhodes and Evelyn Lomax Rhodes, her brother Dan C. Rhodes, and her beloved dachshund, Austin. She will be greatly missed by her sister Lynn Biggerstaff of Fulshear, Texas, her daughter Suzanne Brooks and husband Kim of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter Kathy Waller and husband Chris of Houston, Texas; and son Bill Justman of Dallas, Texas. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Jeremy Brooks, wife Addyson and son James of San Antonio, Texas; Andrew Brooks of Houston, Texas; Michael Justman of Houston, Texas; Aaron Justman of Dallas, Texas; and Lauren Justman of Lubbock, Texas. She is survived by many other loving family members. The family wishes to thank the staff of Belmont Village Senior Living Hunters Creek for their loving care and the staff and members of Tallowood Baptist Church for prayers and support. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests memorials be made in her name to Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Drive, Houston, Texas 77024, A visitation for Barbara will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
