

Affectionately known as “Benny,” he graduated from George Washington High School. In 1960, Benny entered the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country until 1964. During his military service, while stationed in San Antonio, Texas, he met the love of his life, Peggy Girdy. The two were married on August 2, 1965.
After his military service, Benny worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. He had a passion for sports, Westerns, and never went far without his signature sunglasses.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane Borum Golden and Albert Bernard Golden; sisters Minerva Barno and Mary Golden Jackson; and brothers James Golden and Albert Golden.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Golden; daughter, Benitta Golden-Nemard; granddaughter, Afiya Nemard; and great-granddaughter, Mireya Nathan. He also leaves behind his loving sisters: Idella Golden, Gloria Mensah, Luella Barber, and Jeannette Muldrow, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A visitation for Benjamin will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. The funeral service will begin promptly at 2:00 PM in Brookside’s Family Chapel. Burial will take place the following morning, Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:15 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038
