

On October 16, 1941, Jerry and Lovie Jones welcomed their baby girl, Bertha Birdie Jones, into the world. She was number eight of ten children. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Church of God in Christ Temple# 18, where she served in several capacities. Mainly, serving as a loyal member of the Mass Choir. Her passion was her family, church and travel.
Bertha grew up and attended Austin County High school in Sealy, Texas. While in school, she was able to display her numerous talents, as she excelled in mathematics, cooking and sewing. She later became a great seamstress, making clothes for her children and also taking on small sewing projects.
Bertha met and married the love of her life, Mose Foster Jr., of Livingston, Texas. Bertha and Mose wedded in March,1964, celebrating 60 years of wedded bliss. Their union was blessed with two daughters.
After becoming a wife and mom, Bertha continued her education obtaining an Associates degree from Texas Southern University. Later, Bertha went on to work as an Assistant Director at Child Care Council of Houston, for over 22 years. There she empowered kids daily to excel to their fullest potential. Her smile was contagious, and she was always eager to help anyone in need.
On March 16, 2024, Bertha transitioned from this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Lovie Jones; Father Jerry Jones; Sisters Joyce Jackson and Martha Cooper; Brothers, Roscoe Jones, Fred Jones and Glen Jones.
To celebrate her life, Bertha leaves her husband, Mose Foster, Jr; two daughters, Chosieul Whorton (Curtis), Teresa Foster; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Arrementia Justice and Elizabeth Haynes, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
