Bertha was a talented and hardworking seamstress—a craft she honed with grace and excellence in her homeland. But more than a skilled artisan, she was a visionary. In 1977, with incredible courage and hope for the future, she immigrated to Houston, Texas, in pursuit of a better life for her children.
In Houston, she continued to follow her passion for sewing, eventually opening her own business. Her hands created more than clothing—they stitched confidence, joy, and dignity into the lives of her clients. She was an artist, a provider, and a nurturer.
Her life was defined not just by her work, but by her unwavering faith and boundless compassion. Bertha was a devoted servant of the Lord. She sang in the choir at Evangelistic Temple and served in the children’s ministry at Lakewood Church. Her faith was evident in all she did—kindness was her language, service her calling.
She also gave selflessly to those in need, volunteering to help the homeless and offering love and support to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. She didn’t wait to be asked—she simply saw a need and stepped in.
Bertha was a mother, a teacher, a protector, and a believer. Her sacrifices opened doors of opportunity for those she loved. Her strength gave her children strength. And her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.
Though she is no longer with us in body, we know she is now wrapped in God’s eternal embrace. Her love will never be forgotten.
We love you, Mom. We honor you. We will carry your spirit with us always.
