Betty was born April 13th, 1929 in Woods County, Oklahoma to Jake and Dorothy (Berry) Goebel. She was raised by her grandparents on a farm twenty miles outside of Alva, Oklahoma. Betty met Richard Bradley in Alva, Oklahoma and were married February 18th, 1949. They raised five children together and were married nearly 70 years until his death in 2018.
Betty traveled with Richard and their family across nine states while his company explored for oil, finally settling in Houston, Texas in 1973. When she wasn't busy as a homemaker and wife, Betty volunteered as a scout leader with Girl Scouts and as a den mother with the Boy Scouts. She volunteered at her United Methodist church as well, caring for children in the church nursery or teaching Sunday school. In Houston, Betty was an active member of TOPS, Imperial Point Community Improvement Association and Imperial Point Garden Club.
Betty never stopped learning and had a strong work ethic - personality traits that were naturally passed to her children. Brilliant and astute (even at 95), she never let anything get past her. Betty was an excellent cook, competitive player of cards and dominoes, and a devoted Astros fan. Betty cherished individuals who exemplified unwavering integrity and resilience in the face of life's challenges, values that she herself upheld throughout her life.
Betty's family and friends will remember her contagious laughter, generosity, and quick wit. Betty loved children, animals (especially her sweet cat, Gracie), and most of all, she loved and adored her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Jake and Dorothy Goebel, husband Richard Bradley, brothers Kenneth Goebel and Billy Goebel, sister Nettie Britt, daughter Kelly Alison Bradley, and son Lloyd Douglas Bradley.
Betty is survived by her daughter Karen LaValley and her husband Dr. Terry LaValley, of Arvada, Colorado, son Jeffrey Bradley and his wife Anne of Boise, Idaho, daughter Kristin Wheelock and her husband Mauricio Wheelock of Houston, Texas, grandchildren Chase LaValley and his wife Lillian, Dr. Clayton LaValley and his wife Dr. Adina Bodolan, Isabel Thompson, Bello Thompson, Austin Wheelock, Mason Wheelock, great grandchildren Troy LaValley and Leo LaValley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
