Later that year, she graduated and was ready to come to America. On November 4, 1955, Betty was in the U.S. After living in Seattle for a short while, Betty and Albert settled in Houston in 1956. Betty was baptized in 1958 at Chinese Baptist Church. She was a faithful Christian, attending church regularly. She believed that all the teachings in the Bible and God’s promises as truth and leaned on the Lord in prayer. Her favorite hymn was: All the Way My Savior Leads Me. Her favorite Scripture verse was Mark 12:30, ”Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
Betty enjoyed using the computer in the library to email, read newspapers, and to research various subjects of interest. She enjoyed learning new things as she believed that one was never too old to learn. She enjoyed spending time with her children when they were still in their home, since Albert worked late hours, until midnight at the restaurant. In her later years, she especially enjoyed her five grandchildren. She lived her life exhibiting strength, courage, faith, humility, perseverance, sacrifice, grace, and love to those who knew her. Betty is now rejoicing in heaven with her Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit forever.
