

Betty Lou Good was born to parents Selmer Good and Bessie Arrasmith Good on a farm in Story County, Iowa on September 26, 1932. Betty graduated from Zearing High School in Zearing, Iowa in 1950.
She married Charles A “Chuck” Langland on July 2, 1951 in Cheyenne, Wyoming on the way to Chuck’s first job after college. Betty and Chuck enjoyed 69 years of marriage and a lifetime of adventures together. Those adventures began right away. Following Chuck’s work around the country, the couple moved 20 times and lived in 7 different US states during the first 6 years of
their marriage. Each of their children was born in a different state.
After choosing Houston as their home, Betty worked as a small business bookkeeper for many years. She was a very active member of Bellaire Christian Church and Bethany Christian Church in Houston. Over the years, Betty sang in the church choir and served as a Deacon, an Elder, and a Board Member for the church.
Known for her big smile and positive, warm and caring spirit, Betty’s passions included spending time with her family and friends, reading, painting, quilting, traveling, playing Bridge and working puzzles. Together, she and Chuck traveled around the world, visiting more than 70 countries, every continent and all 24 time zones around the world! Her paintings were often based on Chuck’s photographs of their travels.
Betty was a huge sports fan who loved cheering on the Astros, Texans and Rockets. She and Chuck hosted an extended friends and family Thanksgiving gathering at their home every year for 50 years.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Doreen and Hattie Good, and her brother Selmer “Bud” Good Jr.
She is survived by Chuck, their children: Ruth Ann Havens (and husband Greg), Marc Langland (and wife Carol), and Tommy Langland (and wife Stacie). Betty is also survived by three grandchildren: Gregory Havens II (and wife Dalia), Simone Langland, and Austin Langland, as well as 2 great-grandchildren: Isabella and Amelia Havens, her sister Mary Hills (and husband Larry) and her brother Lemuel Good.
Visitation will be held from 5pm-8pm on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston TX. A private service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020.
