Bill Crabb joined his Heavenly Father on February 28, 2022 at the age of 90. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Lanman and husband Steve; granddaughters Violet Lanman and Ruby Lanman; sister Norma Lee Costa and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Violet Jennings Crabb; son, Barry James Crabb; parents, Benjamin and Alma Blanche Crabb; and siblings, Ben S. Crabb, Jr. and Betty Davis.
Bill was born September 10, 1931 in Highlands, TX. The youngest of four, Bill left school after 7th grade to help his mother. After serving in the US Army in Korea, he met and married the love of his life, Violet Mae Jennings, on April 21, 1956. He loved to tell the story of how their honeymoon to New Orleans was cut short due to a lack of funds. Their love lasted until Violet’s death in November 1998.
Bill became a Master Mason in 1958 and took pride in his membership with both the Daylight Lodge and Park Place Lodge. He served the Lord as a Deacon at Second Baptist Church for many years. Bill was a Barber until a friend introduced him to the insurance business. He became a Farmers Insurance Agent in 1970, starting his “office” in his garage and growing it into a thriving business. He retired in 2010 at the young age of 78.
Bill loved to fish and had property at Lake Livingston both in the 70s and early 2000s. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He would often text his family to let them know what channel and time the Astros (or Razorbacks) were playing.
Bill was the most genuine person; gentle, kind, and generous. He never met a stranger and will be remembered fondly by family and countless friends. He adored his granddaughters and made it financially possible for them to attend college. As he would say, “Not bad for a man with a 7th grade education!”
