Bob Hollis “Knoxx” Liggins, Jr.
On the 23rd day of March 1942, Bob Jr. the eldest of two twin sisters was born to Bob Hollis Liggins, Sr. & Dorothy Mae (Meador) Liggins of Jacksonville, TX. Bob Jr. was raised in the Fifth Ward Community & lived in Kelly Village, where he attended Kelso Bruce Elementary, E.O. Smith Jr. High and Phillis Wheatley High School graduated class of 1961, the mighty wildcats where he had passion and dedication for playing football as a quarterback #23. He was quick, fast and great. He stated to me, “he could throw a football from Kelly Courts to the Bottom.” He also manage to complete his Bachelor of Science in Health Education from Texas Southern University at age of 59.
Bob Jr. received Christ at early age and was faithful & dedicated member of Payne Chapel AME Church, Pastor Kevin L. Bullock. He was dedicated to Men’s Choir and Health Ministry where he would have Health Fairs for the community. He remain a member until his eternal call to be with the Lord.
Bob Jr. worked for Maxwell House for eighteen years. City of Houston as Health Educator for thirty years and HISD as Health Teacher and various subjects for ten years. Bob Jr. was proud of accomplishments and always encourage his family to do the same. We will continue to honor his legacy by living our lives to the fullness.
Bob Jr. was a man of faith, love, ambition, pride, honor and most of all a sense of humor. Life well lived with a great sense of humor. He Master of his own language, he would recite poems, quotes and life lessons so eloquently with jive and wordplay. He was force to reckon with. He would leave you thinking and standing. Because you never knew what he would say, but it was in joy. He love jazz music, football, baseball and cowboys movies. He lived a courageous life with no regrets.
In March 23rd, 1991, Bob Jr. married the love of his life, Willie Ruth, where they remained married until his death. He loved Mrs. Ruth.
Bob Hollis “Knoxx” Liggins, Jr. at age 80, resided in Houston, TX at the time of his death. He peacefully departed this life February 10th, 2023, Friday
Bob Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Bob Hollis Liggins, Sr., mother Dorothy Mae (Meador) Liggins, two twins sisters Dorothy Ann Walker & Doris Ann Pinson, daughter Leah Anqelique Patrick.
Bob Jr. leaves to cherish his memories beloved wife, Willie Ruth Liggins, in whom shared 32 years with. His daughter Metra Denise Liggins-Peters(James), Step-sons & daughter Robert Anthony and Debra. Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, sister-n-law, host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who he loved and adored.
