On September 21, 2025, the world lost a radiant spirit when Bonita Thompson Britt of Missouri City, Texas, passed away at the age of 70. Born on February 27, 1955, in Oxford, Mississippi, Bonita lived a life filled with love, adventure, faith, and creativity that touched everyone who knew her.
A proud graduate of the University of Mississippi, Class of 1977, Bonita first dedicated her heart and talents to teaching. She inspired countless young minds as an educator before boldly embracing a new chapter as a flight attendant. In this role, she combined her adventurous soul with her gift for connecting with people, traveling the world and gathering experiences that enriched her life and those around her.
Bonita had many passions, but above all she loved God, her family, and community. She poured her energy into making life more beautiful for others—whether through her delicious cooking, vibrant gardening, or her impeccable skills as a seamstress, adjusting and creating garments that helped people look and feel their very best. Her love of fashion was as strong as her love for sewing, and she carried herself with the same elegance she stitched into every piece of fabric.
She was a proud and active member of the illustrious Top Ladies of Distinction, where she built bonds of sisterhood and service. To her, life was meant to be lived in full color—with laughter, travel, generosity, and faith leading the way.
Bonita’s legacy will live on through her daughter, Tijuana Harvey; her siblings Clarence Banks (Karen), Joyce Banks Davidson, Vivian Banks Price (John), Robert Banks (Karol), and Ferrucio Banks (Barbara); her god-sister Patricia Brassel; and the countless cousins, friends and loved ones whose lives she touched with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gladys Thompson and Thomas Banks, her sister, Felicia Banks Liggins, as well as aunts and uncles whose memories she now joins in eternal rest.
Though she has departed from this world, Bonita’s spirit remains in the gardens she nurtured, the garments she stitched, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the memories of adventures shared. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived but for the joy and beauty she gave to others.
