Bruce Harry Robertson was the only child of William Henry and Gladys Rose (nee Sheldon) Robertson. He was born 12 April 1927 at Newburgh, N.Y.
At age 17, he enlisted in the Army Specialized Training Program. He graduated from Officer Candidate School and was sent to Italy where he served as a Second Lieutenant until his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Upon graduating in 1951, he was ordered to serve in the Korean War where he commanded a tank company and was awarded the Bronze Star medal for valor.
In Vietnam, he was senior advisor to the ARVN regiment that scored the biggest victory of the year 1963. It was a war that we lost. He was with EUCOM Headquarters in Paris and then commanded a battalion in Germany. Bruce's last assignment was at Ft. Hood as the commanding officer of MASTER Project. He continued his military career and retired in 1974.
In his civilian career, Bruce was Executive Director of the Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors, holding Texas license #2. In the 1980's he and his wife, Suzanne, purchased King Size Storage in Austin, Texas which he ran until he was in his 90's. He volunteered at the Texas State Library's Genealogy Collection for ten years, helping many people find their roots. He was past-president of the Sheldon Family Association.
He is survived by the family he adored -- his loving wife of 70 years, Suzanne, and by his three daughters, Lynn, Jill, and Laura and their husbands Bill Hargrove, Steve Oleson, and Mark Peachee, his grandchildren Lindsey Hargrove Raspino and her husband Michael, Sam Hargrove and his wife Lauren, Suzanne Oleson Glithero and her husband Stephen, Alison Peachee, Jack Peachee, Claire Peachee and Will Peachee, and his great grandchildren Louise and Mollie.
A reception will be held at The Buckingham at 8580 Woodway in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at West Point, NY.
