

Calvin E. Wallace was born July 15, 1925 to Lilly Ann and Solmon Laurance Wallace in Arapaho, Oklahoma in Custer County. He attended elementary and high school at Arapaho School District. After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps.
While in the Marine Corps he served in the Pacific Theater where he was tankered to USS Phoenix. This service involved 13 landings and bombardments, and 1 naval engagement. During this time, he was serving in the rank of 1st Sargent. After service in the Pacific Theater, he was transferred to Marine Headquarters, Washington, DC until his discharge December 11, 1945.
After discharge from the Marine Corps he worked various jobs until 1949 when he was hired by a surveyor of oil field service. This remained his interest until his retirement at the age of 64.
In July 1949 he married Marjorie Jan Garner of Caldwell, Kansas. Their two children were both born in Houston, David in 1963 and C. Andrew (Andy) in 1966. On April 24, 1984 Marjorie passed away due to a heart attack.
After retirement Calvin spent two years doing volunteer work at Bellaire General Hospital. Thereafter, he assisted his sister in Cheyenne, Oklahoma until she passed away in 2003.
He is survived by his sons Andrew Wallace of Houston, and David Wallace his wife Maria Wallace, and their children Crista and Joseph Wallace. Calvin's viewing will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, December 19, 2012.
