

Carlos Cortez, 88, passed away on August 27, 2024, in Houston, TX. Born on February 2, 1936, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Carlos dedicated much of his life to the hospitality industry, climbing the ranks from busboy to restaurant owner. He served in the Servicio Militar Nacional of Mexico in 1955, embracing the discipline and camaraderie of military life.
Carlos was a passionate music lover, particularly of Boleros Romanticos, and often found joy in playing his guitar and singing, bringing joy to those around him. His hobbies included spending quality time with his family, enjoying happy hours, golfing, beach outings, watching the Astros and maintaining his patio, which he kept immaculate.
Carlos's love for his family knew no bounds. He is survived by his adoring wife, Linda Cortez, and his children Carlos Cortez, Robert Cortez, Delia Rodriguez, Teresa Rodriguez, Monica Jovita Cortez, Carlos Daniel Cortez and daughter-in-law Cristina Cortez. His legacy also includes a lineage of 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his values and zest for life. He also leaves behind his brothers Ricardo Cortez and Tomas Sanchez. Preceding him in death were his mother, Jovita Cortez, and sister, Guadalupe Mejia.
Carlos will be remembered as a hardworking man who took every opportunity to spoil his wife and as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and father-in-law. His legacy of love, music, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
