Carmen Martinez, born October 8, 1949, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 76. A lifelong resident of Houston, Texas, Carmen was a woman of deep faith, limitless generosity, and a radiant spirit that uplifted everyone she met.
Born into a family of six as the first daughter of Gilbert Garcia and Adela Z. Garcia, Carmen grew up surrounded by the love, laughter, and closeness that shaped the values she carried throughout her life. She met her future husband of 57 years, Adam Martinez Jr., after being introduced by her brother, Gilbert Garcia Jr. Their love endured distance and uncertainty, strengthened by Carmen’s unwavering faith while Adam served in Vietnam. When they were reunited after the war, they devoted themselves to raising their three children with love, devotion, and a steadfast belief in family.
Carmen cherished traveling with her husband, and together they often explored new places, especially on cruises, which were her favorite. Whenever possible, they brought the whole
family along, creating cherished memories marked by joy and adventure.
Her faith was the steady center of her life. She prayed the rosary often with her sisters and grandchildren. Carmen was a familiar, beloved presence at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her lifelong mantra, “Say Jesus three times,” reflected her hopeful heart and guided her family through countless moments of challenge and gratitude.
Carmen found joy in shopping trips with her sisters, and she welcomed everyone into her home with warmth and fun, especially during family gatherings filled with nieces, nephews, and laughter.
She now joins in eternal rest her mother, Adela Z. Garcia; her father, Gilbert Garcia; and her brother, Gilbert Jr. Garcia.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Adam Martinez Jr.; her children and their spouses—Adam Martinez III and Christina Martinez, Briget Martinez and Andrea Quintanilla Martinez, and Erik Martinez and Michelle Martinez; Adam’s children—Biancha (her son Jett Matthew), Vivian (her husband Tim Shedrick, and her son and daughter Lennon and Ivy Shedrick), Julian, Damian, Cecilia, Bella, and Trinidad; Erik’s sons—Max and Elijah; and her beloved dog, Duke.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered prayers and support throughout Carmen’s journey. Your love and kindness means so much.
