It has taken me a while to make this entry about Daddy.  I am the youngest of his 4 daughters.  I've had to come to terms with some things about Daddy that I have struggled with for years.  There are so many memories, good and bad.  But, I can honestly say that when June came into his and our lives it made such a difference for the best.  Daddy changed.  He became a better father, husband, and man.  I am so very thankful to have a Mom like June come in to my life and Daddy's.

Daddy lived a long and very full life.  He did and accomplished a lot of things in life he wanted to.  He had a lot of animals in his life that I believe made it a much fuller life.  Over the years, he had horses, dogs, chickens, rabbits, goats, pigeons, doves, and a variety of other birds and animals.  He announced the Cy-Fair Rodeo for 22 years, and announced at the Cy-Fair High School football games and other rodeos around the area.  He was also an auctioneer for many years.  He did a variety of other things, too.  

He was loved and will be missed.

Carroll & mom married when I was 11 & I lived with them until I was 22.   It was just mom & me from the time I was 4 until I was 11 so it was hard for me to get used to the thought of sharing her with him.  As a little girl I prayed that when mom remarried, she would marry Elvis so, you can imagine my disappointment when she married Carroll.    I thank God every day for not answering that prayer!  

Early on, he would sit in his recliner holding out his empty mug shaking it to make the ice rattle, as if to say non-verbally,  “I'm out of tea, someone get me some more”.  It was obvious from this action that perhaps from him being an only child or a father of 4 girls, someone must have spoiled him. As a child I would just glare at him thinking he must be crazy if he thinks I'm going to wait on him like he's a king on the throne.  I think I gave him as much attitude as he tried to give me.  We had our battles but we loved and respected each other and much of my personality, both good and bad, is the result of his influence.
He had many rules that I remember well.  I respected rules like “no grape bubblegum” but found a way around such rules as “no walking between him & the TV during a football game unless I had a number on my back”.  To this day I can't figure out why they would place the TV on the opposite side of the room which required me to walk between him and the TV to get to the kitchen but imagine his surprise on the day I walked between him & the TV with a football jersey on with his favorite number “00” or “double ought” as he called it. Battle won!

There are many different “versions” of Carroll, depending on what time period you knew him but the man I knew for 40 years was a Godly man that put God &  family first.   He was a wonderful husband to my mom, a good provider, and a great dad to me.   I'm grateful for the impact he had on my life, and the memories we made together.

I grew up in Cypress Creek Estates where the Parrotts lived. I, too, rode the same bus as the Parrott girls! So sorry to hear about Mr. Parrott's death.

I remember when he announced the Cy-Fair rodeo. Also went to school with Pat and Miriam, even rode the same school bus #1. So many years ago, but have good memories of years gone by. So sorry for your loss.

Kenton and I are so sorry for your loss. We found out too late about the funeral. We remember Carroll with fondness and laughter for all of the years we shared showing rabbits. May God Bless You All.

I will miss you Grandpa Carroll. I'm glad that we got to visit this past spring. I will miss all of his stories...and the slot machines. I always enjoyed playing with those when I was when I was a little boy. It saddens me that I cannot be there physically to show my support and respect. Just know that my heart and thoughts are with all of you. I love you guys. Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures and memories!

I'm so sorry to see Carroll's obituary.  I know you will miss him terribly.  You have my condolences.

We will miss Grandpa's stories and his "larger-than-life" presence.  From his days of delivering mail to fighting roosters, Grandpa always had a story to tell.  He will be missed!
