Our sincerest sympathy goes out to you, Bonnie, and your family. Your mom was a delight - I remember her well when we lived in  Houston. Never saw her without a smile. She passed that trait down to you, Bonnie - it's a good one to have. Loving thoughts go out to you and yours.

The Story of the Rosary

On September 24, 2010 our beloved mother, Catherine Dobecka passed away. She was a very devoted Catholic and said the rosary at least once a day. It was only fitting the we would have a Rosary service said for her. Prior to the service, my sister, Bonnie and I asked my daughter, Rhonda and my niece, Emily to pick up all the rosaries from Mom and Dad’s apartment just in case someone did not have one for the service. Rhonda gave me a box of rosaries that she had found. Bonnie and I discussed and could not decide which rosary to leave with Mom the next day at the funeral. I pulled out a pink rosary and handed it to Bonnie to use. Our Aunt Viola could not find her rosary so Bonnie gave it to her to use. Before the service started she found her own rosary and gave the pink rosary to Dad to say the rosary on during the service. After the service Dad gave the rosary to my brother, Ed who gave it to Rhonda who handed it to my husband, Ronnie. My two and a half year old  Grandson, Adam saw the rosary and asked to hold it. He told Adam that he needed to take it to Grandma. Adam make it through the crowd of people leaving the chapel and went up to the casket where Bonnie, Ed and I were saying our good byes to Mom. We never noticed Adam had crawled up on the pew next to the casket and dropped the rosary in with Mom. My son, Ronnie, Jr. saw him up there and thought he was going to pull the flowers off top of the casket so he came up and removed him from the front of the chapel not knowing what Adam was really doing. 
It was not until later that evening at dinner that we questioned who had the pink rosary. Everybody  seemed to have handled it in such a short period of  time and we came to the same conclusion that the rosary must be in the corner of the casket, you see Adam always calls me MawMaw and he called my Mom, Grandma. He did just what his Grandfather, Ronnie told him to do, “Take it to Grandma‘. 
So the next day we all arrive at the funeral home together to see if we can find the pink rosary and as we got closer we all saw that Mom is now holding the pink rosary in her hands. Bonnie and I just look at each other with tears in our eyes and we look at Dad and said, “We found the rosary, this must be the rosary that Mom wants to take with her” We asked Dad if he wanted us to leave it with Mom and with tears in his eyes he said , “Yes”. 

We love you Mom and  miss you so much. Just know that we are all there with you now! May God bless you.

Cathrine was always freindly and jovial as I remember her. That same kindness and care lives on in her children and their children. She could light up the room and bring spirits up to laughter in just moments. I treasure the memory of her and long may we hear her happy laughter in our minds and hearts. We miss you Dear.

Catherine was a wonderful neighbor for 37 years.  I loved talking to her when she was in the front yard tending her flower beds.  We would chit chat about our families and catch up on neighborhood news.  We will miss Catherine very much.  May sweet memories give you comfort and peace.  God bless your family.

Mrs. Dobecka, You were my second mom growing up.  You alwasy made me feel as a part of your family.  Fussed at me, praised me, and gave advise as if I was one of your own.  Thank you for being there for us.  You are such a big part of how we turned out.  I'll keep an eye out for Bonnie for you.  Bless your soul, and if you see my dad tell him i love him as much as i know Bonnie loves you.

  Dear Catherine I will miss your smile so bright and your hugs so tight. Those family gatherings at your home with the smell of pot roast in the air. Kids playing ball in the front yard while Catherine admired how fast the kids where growing. Those precious hours spent helping raise my kids into young adults and giving them so many fond memories to keep in their hearts. We will be better for this world for having spent the time with you.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Catherine. I really enjoyed visiting with her at the Dobecka Reunions. She always seemed to be full of life and very involved in her family. I will miss not seeing again. My best to Edwin and the whole family

So sorry to hear of Catherine's death. We will keep her in our prayers, as well as the rest of the family during these difficult days. I remember the trip, I took with her to Washington, D. C. with Mother Catherine, many years ago. We had such a good time.

   Please except my deep sympathy in the death of Catherine.  I will never forget her kindness to my dad, my family, & me when my mother passed away.  I will pray for all of you.

We will miss you Catherine.  I loved coming over to your home thru the years and always felt accepted as part of the family.  You and your home has meant alot to me as I grew up with your children.  Your place was another home away from home.  May god bless you, as I am sure he will.

I lived with my Grandmother, Grandfather, Aunt Catherine, and Aunt Peggy Williamson quite a bit in my childhood days. Catherine and Peggy were young adults still living at home. They took care of me and influenced my raising. We had a very good time together. Bonnie, even though I was much younger than your mother, I got to watch her grow up to be the fine woman she was. Even though we have grown appart somewhat, I will always remember her in her young, glorious days. I was at her wedding and watched her and Edwin raise some fine children. I am sorry to see her go and I am sorry for your loss. Take care of your children for some day they will be taking care of you.

Bonnie, so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was a true Lady and had a beautiful smile everytime I saw her.  Will be praying for you and the family.

Our prayers and sympathy go to all of you. Catherine was a joy to us all and we'll remember her as such.

Bonnie, my heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.  Relish in the memories and know that you have been a great daughter to your folks. You will continue to be in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Aunt Catherine was such a wonderful person.  I hope that your memories bring you comfort.  She will be missed, but she will be cherished forever, having touched so many lives.
