

He was born on May 9, 1933, in New Waverly, Texas, to Casmier Thomas Bukowski and Annie Koenig Bukowski.
Charles graduated from New Waverly High School and later received vocational training. He met the love of his life, Margaret, at the New Waverly Bazaar, and the two were married on January 25, 1958. They shared nearly 68 wonderful years together, years filled with devotion, partnership, and unwavering commitment.
In March of 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After years of dedicated service, he received an honorable discharge. Charles worked as a machinist with Southern Pacific Railroad for 43 years, where he was known as a dedicated, loyal, and hardworking employee. Even after retirement, he remained active, always finding ways to stay busy and help others. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, the Guys and Dolls, and the Legion of Mary.
Faith and family were the foundations of Charles’s life. He had a passion for church, playing guitar, gardening, traveling, volunteering at the food pantry, camping, fishing, doing puzzles, and spending time with his family. He was a supportive role model to his 5 children and was always involved in their lives. He especially cherished family vacations, road trips, and cruises traveling to all 50 states and several countries. Charles was known for his selflessness, often putting others before himself, and will be remembered for his kind soul and gentle heart.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Casmier and Annie Bukowski; his sister, Marie Little; and his son, Ron Bukowski.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Bukowski; his brother Edward Bukowski and wife Nancy; his children: Mary Kriegel and husband Dennis, Ken Bukowski and wife Renee, Charlie Bukowski and wife Yvonne, Donna Lightfoot and husband Mark, and Katherine Bukowski. He also leaves behind many grandchildren Jessica, Brandon, Ken Jr., Justin, Ryan, Amanda, Zach, Jenny, Eric, Julia, Tyler, and Carter along with 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
A funeral service will be held at St Leo the Great Catholic Church, located at 2131 Lauder Rd, Houston, TX, 77039, US. The service is scheduled for December 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jessica Morgan, Brandon Chance, Ken Jr. Bukowski, Justin Lightfoot, Ryan Bukowski, Amanda Lightfoot, Zach Bukowski, Jenny Brock, Eric Bukowski, and Julia Fusco.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Annie (caregiver), Dr. Mazen Ganim, Dr. David Berman, and all the nurses and staff of Bayou City Hospice, the VA, and Home Instead for their compassionate care.
