

Charles Elliott Morrison, 97, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016, in Houston, TX. He was the second of three sons of James Urban and Louise Mathews Morrison. He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and raised in Shreveport, attended Byrd High School and graduated from Centenary College in 1940 with a degree in Accounting. After graduation he served honorably in the US Army, attained the rank of Master Sergeant, and was stationed in the Upper Assam region of India during World War II. In 1948 he married the former Jessie May Williams, and in 1949 he began working for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation, eventually becoming Comptroller. He retired from Texas Eastern in 1985.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers J. U. and Gwin, his wife and the mother of his children Jessie May, and his second wife Carol Fletcher. His five children survive him: Molly and husband Don Gaylord, Susan and husband Jim O’Brien, Charles jr. and wife Sandy Morrison, Rebecca Belknap, and Robert Morrison and partner Karie Staskus. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Scott O’Brien and wife Elizabeth; Josh and wife Lucy Skalnik; Alec and wife Lindsay Platon; Riann and husband Christopher Havey; Ginny Belknap and fiancée Nissa Marks; Curtis and wife Alkesta Belknap; and Hannah Belknap; and 8 great grandchildren: Sage O’Brien; Bria, Emily, and William Havey; Kate Mathews; Andie Belknap; and Noah and Sam Skalnik. Surviving also are the Fletcher kids: Lisa Stamatis and children Michael and Lauren; Leann Wright, husband Larry, and children Jimmy, Jessy, Corrine and John; Chuck Fletcher; and Laurie Taylor and son John.
Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 3, at 12:30pm, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX. The family wishes to thank the staff at Autumn Leaves Cy-Fair, and at Houston Hospice, for the care and affection they showed during Dad’s final days.
