Charlie Maenza, 91, went to be with the Lord at 1:05 p.m. Dec. 20, 2017 at Memorial Hermann Memorial City after a short illness.
He was born Jan. 25, 1926 to Arcangelo and Rosalia Maenza in Willis, Texas. He was a World War II veteran, joining in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He owned his own Sinclair service station in Houston during the 1960s. For the remainder of his working life, he owned and helped maintain various rental properties.
He was a good man, who worked hard his whole life and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; daughter, Rosalie; son, Charles; and daughter-in-law, Teena.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Maenza of West Columbia, Tx.; granddaughter, Francesca Ross and husband, Kirk, of Houston; daughter-in-law, Sharon Sorsby, of Houston; sister, Mary Cutaia; sister, Camille Gaudiano; brother, Oscar Maenza, and wife, Opal; brother-in-law, Tony Gaudiano; great grandchildren, Jade, Brianna, Bella and Kardell; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 28. 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon at Advantage Funeral Home, 7010 Chetwood, in Houston with funeral services following at noon at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 28 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 3502 N. Main St., in Houston. Burial will follow the service
