I will miss Memaw.  I remember when I went to Colonial Hills Elementary and I would get off the bus she was usually sitting out on her porch doing solving her word search puzzles.  She would stop me every time and ask me how my day went and I would give her a kiss and go inside.   If I was sick and couldn't go to school, she would take care of me while my mom worked.  I spent a good part of my childhood with her and my grandfather.  She and my grandfather came to all of my kids' birthday parties.  She was always so nice to everyone and great with kids.  As she got older, I would go visit her and she would always ask me about my kids.  She will forever be missed.

When we were growing up as siblings, she always took care of me.  She would offer to do my chores if I would play with her.  We never had any arguments or harsh words.  She was my matron of honor at my wedding, as I was maid of honor at hers.  She was always a pleasure to be around.  She loved my children as if they were hers.  I will miss her greatly.  She will always be in my heart.  Can't wait until I can see her again.  Rest in peace.

I’ve known Mrs. Wyrick (mom) for 40 plus years.  I’ve never heard a harsh word from her nor about her.  She was a great and loving mother (even to me).   She lived her life for her family.  I enjoyed coming into her room to tell her hello and that I loved her.  She would invite me to lay down in bed with her and talk.  My fondest memory is of her taking me and Martha to work with her at the day care.  I loved it so much!  You will be missed and always in our hearts.

There are so many memories I have, I don't know where to begin. We'll start back to my first one when I was 4 years old. We lived in a two bedroom house before our permanent house was built.  Us 4 kids shared a room, BUT it sure was funny that Mom and Dad's room had a baby bed in it, which was for me when I got scared at night,  I'd go climb into it. Mom knew but she was trying to break me of not sleeping with her and dad. That all ended when we moved into the new house, then I got to share a room with my two older sisters. I felt grown up then.  Mom was the best mom I could have ever asked for. She always made sure we got what we wanted on our Christmas list every year,  EXCEPT the one year I got a boys bike, which I'm sure that was probably Dad's idea, which was fine. I had that bike until I moved to Washington. It finally started looking old, so I knew it was time to let go of it. Other than the bike, I think mom made the decisions on everything we got for the holidays. Mom always made us wonderful dinners and they were very healthy too, unless we ate out on Friday or Saturday nights. She always made sure we stayed busy outside of school with Girl Scouts, skating and vacations every year. I look back at all the memories and feel like I was raised like The Brady Bunch kids.  I have SO many memories that if I listed them all, this would turn into a novel. I have to say that I had the best Mom in the whole wide world.   I'll always hold you dear to my heart.

You may have passed on, but your memories will always live on within us. Thank you for your sacrifices, your care and concern, your love and everything that you have done for our family and how it all started since the very beginning  with you and Peepaw, because without you and him none of us would be here.  Wherever you are, I know you are in a much better place. I will be forever grateful and thankful that you are my 'grandmother'. I'm so thankful that my first born, Walter Clarence Riley got to meet you before you left us. It means so much to me. Those special memories of you will always bring a smile, if only we could have you back for just a little while.  Then we could sit and talk again just like we used to do, you always meant so very much and always will. The fact that you're no longer here will always cause me pain, but your forever in my heart until we meet again.

I will always remember my Grandma for her kindness and love. She would light up a room with her smile any day of the week. I enjoyed the years I got to spend getting to know her, caring for her, and understanding what made her who she was. I love you Grandma and I will miss you always.

I will always remember my Grandma for her gentle touch, caring words and all of the joy filled holidays we shared together. She was a bright light in this family, and will be severely missed. Aunt Charlotte was my aunt for more than 66 years, more years than I have yet to spend with my sister,  brother, cousins or friends.  During my childhood, we visited her, my uncle and my cousins. We ate   together.  Aunt Charlotte was a great cook – visits to her house could see her whipping up chocolate meringue pie, German chocolate cake (her specialty); and the most delicious, crispy Southern fried chicken.
Years passed and life found her in need.  Now roles were reversed and she needed help to go about her daily activities.  She moved into Martha’s house and became an important part of the daily life of the family.   
As time passed, I went to visit her at Martha’s family gatherings.  Many years she sat at the dessert table and I would join her.  That was lucky for her because she had a big sweet tooth.  It was lucky for me because I knew I could spend as much time with her as it took her to eat that piece of cake or pie.  
While sitting with her, I would see her eyes wander around the table, seeming to consider which delectable treat was calling to her next.  I would watch her gaze to see where it lingered and ask her if she wanted another dessert.  She usually said yes.  She took such pleasure in tasting the holiday treats.  I took pleasure in getting that second dessert for her and in enjoying the graciousness of her company. 
So we sat at the dessert table and we talked.  She gifted me memories of my mother and my family members.  She held a history so precious and so needed.  It was comforting to hear her recount those remembrances of days past.  It was comforting to think of all the ways our family was enriched with her as a part of it.
Aunt Charlotte, I love you and I will miss you dearly.  Holidays or any days won’t be the same without you. Your niece, Andrea

I have known Charlotte Wyrick for years. This is a true story... One day my car broke down on her street and her husband Mr. Wyrick and  Charlotte came by and rescued me. My car ran out of gas and Mr. Wyrick took me to the corner store and paid for my gas; Charlotte invited me to dinner with them. I went and ate at their house with them. All I can say is Mr. Wyrick and Charlotte were real good people to be around.

Mom, you will be surely missed.  I am so thankful for the time that me and my family got to spend with you in our home the last 7 years.  I will always remember and cherish the vacations that we took when we were little.  I particularly remember our long 3-week road trip family vacation to New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana,  Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona.  I remember Jeanette bringing back a "dead" snake in a baggie to camp.  You screamed and said, "it's not dead".  Then you put it in the bonfire.  I remember you making matching clothes for Cheryl, Jeanette, and me, whether it be for school or Girl Scouts.  You were always at home with your family.  I remember when Duke was over visiting and I asked you to cut my hair.  You said you'd do it later.  Then, I went in the bathroom and cut it myself.  I came out of the bathroom and I'll never forget the look on y'all's face.  You and her were both in shock and screamed.  You said that my hair was in 6 different lengths.  Then you had to fix it.   I remember you laying Jeanette and me on the kitchen counter to wash our long, thick hair.  I remember all of the gifts under the Christmas tree for us kids.  There are so many wonderful childhood memories that I will never ever forget.

I remember that you and dad loved to eat at Vernon's Kuntry Katfish in Conroe.  Y'all would eat there many times when you came to visit.   I will always remember and cherish our large family Christmases together, from childhood to adulthood.  They were always a very special time of year for all of us.

Thank you for being the most wonderful and loving mother in the world.  I will always cherish our family memories, and you always made them so special and memorable.

Rest in Peace Sweet Angel

My Aunt Charlotte was such a sweet, loving and caring woman.  She loved her family so very much. I spent my young years growing up around my family members, one of which was her.   She loved coming over to our house with my Uncle Walter and my cousins.   We also visited them at their home.  She loved my mother, Edna Wyrick, and spending time laughing, drinking coffee with her.   They joked with one another and shared their lives together.  I would go and sit with them to talk and share things with them.  She was such a joy to be with!  Her laugh and smiles made me laugh and comforted me.   My Aunt Charlotte was so very special to all of us.   I miss her now and I look forward to meeting up with her in Heaven, along with other friends and family. I will never say goodbye to her.  Her spirit will comfort every one of us.   I love you Aunt Charlotte. 

I lived next door to Ms. Wyrick.
She use to babysit me and make me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a glass of milk.  I always looked foward to seeing her smiling face when she would see me.
